Zsòfia Pesovàr

Ethnomusicologist

Zsòfia Pesovàr, Hungarian director and ethnomusicologist, has been living in Nantes for sixteen years. She is president of the Drom association.

In 1995, she defended her dissertation on the comparison of analysis methods of French and Hungarian lyric songs at the Music and Musicology faculty of Paris-IV Sorbonne. After her studies, she continued her research and ethnomusicological surveys within Dastum44 (Breton music archives of oral tradition). She also teaches ethnomusicology at Cefedem in Nantes.

After training in video in 2004, she began making documentary films as part of the Images de Village project of the Maison de Culture de Loire Atlantique. In 2006, she participated in the editing and production of documentary films internship at INA (the National Audiovisual Institute). Since 2008, she has been supervising video workshops, continuing her activities in the field of image education and making participatory documentary films within the Makiz'Art association.

Her ethnomusicological interests lead her to work on the artistic realization of various issues related to music of oral tradition.
