Guillaume Le Guern

Clarinetist

  • Ton Duro – Dañs ‘dro Fisel

In the mille-feuille of musical cultural practices in Brittany, Guillaume Le Guern first turned to the dance music of the festoù-noz, and particularly through learning the treujenn-gaol, the clarinet as it is played in Central Brittany.

His meeting with the musicians Christian Duro and Jean Le Floc’h within the group Termajik, as well as his involvement in the Rencontres Internationales de la Clarinette Populaire (Glomel, Côtes d’Armor) for about ten years will be decisive for the shaping of his instrumental playing and the musical eclecticism that has carried him since.

In 2006, he joined the Kreiz Breizh Akademi initiated by Erik Marchand, and trained in the techniques of interpreting modal music. Passionate about Central European repertoires, Guillaume also participates in the Gipsy Burek Orkestar project, a fanfare bringing together Breton and Macedonian musicians on stage, as well as in the creation of djemtë e kabasë, a Breton and Albanian musical encounter, or in the meeting with the Greek singer Solon Lekkas, who recently passed away.
From 2009 to 2019 he joined Electric Bazar cie, a rock band with eclectic projects, ranging from indoor concerts to setting up cabarets and tours under a big top (Avolo, Seamen & Travellers tour, Rock ‘n Roll is your Mission). The multiple experiences of this band led him to meet the Tuareg rock band Tisdass in 2018, led by the singer Kildjate Moussa Aldabé, or Mossa Ag Ahataya.
For the past ten years, his playing field has also extended to live performance with the production of music for the companies Teatr Piba (Metamorfoz, Paotr ar Valisenn, Les Echelles de Nuages), Cie Mo3 (L’Homme Penché) or for dance with the group Korriged Ys since 2021.
