Serdar Pazarcıoğlu is one of the most talented Turkish Roma violinists of his generation. He comes from a family of professional musicians from Akhisar in the Izmir region. Like many Turkish Gypsies, his ancestors traveled to northern Greece in 1923 during the population exchange between Greeks and Turks.
As a teenager, Serdar began his career playing at weddings and in Turkish classical music ensembles. He quickly sought to broaden his playing by actively pursuing Indian music, Balkan styles, and jazz. He moved to Istanbul in the 2000s, where he regularly played with Göksel Baktagir, Yurdal Tokcan, Yinon Muallem, and in the arabesk (Turkish pop) orchestras of Ibrahim Tatlises and Kibariye. He is also regularly requested for studio recordings for film scores, pop, and Turkish gypsy music.
Serdar regularly teaches his music to many Turkish and foreign violinists. He currently teaches at the "koro" in Akhisar, a center dedicated to Turkish classical music, and also regularly leads training courses abroad.
