Originally from Diyarbekir, Turkey, Ruşan Filiztek learned the saz with his father before joining renowned music schools such as those of Sakarya and Marmara University. For several years, he traveled to the Middle East to deepen his knowledge of Kurdish, Turkish, Greek and Armenian/Aramaic music and singing.
Songs and melodies from Anatolia and Mesopotamia, Ruşan Filiztek likes to use the ancient name of these regions, cradles of civilization that have forged so many cultures and musical forms of which today's peoples are only the heirs. Rusan Filiztek is a Kurd from Diyarbakir but that is not enough to qualify him as an artist. For many years, he has forged many precious friendly ties with Turkish, Armenian and Greek musicians who have allowed him to enrich his repertoire. To this already generous program, the musician adds personal compositions.
Since 2015, Ruşan has settled in Paris and is studying musicology at the Sorbonne University. At the same time, he is pursuing his career as a musician and has been invited to numerous festivals. From Jordi Savall to the Greek Solon Lekkas, this young virtuoso recomposes his oriental repertoire between jazz, baroque and traditional.
In 2019, Ruşan Filiztek received the Prix des Musiques d'ICI, a great national award for world music.
His first solo album will be released in October 2021 on the Accords Croisés label, with the support of the Centre National de la Musique.
