Born in 1958, in Saint-Malo, in a family of classical musicians, also practicing traditional Breton music. In parallel with his studies of classical music (trumpet, musicology), he travels around Brittany to meet musicians of the old tradition, and has an activity as a musician of Fest-noz and weddings.

In 1988, after obtaining the C.A. of Traditional Music, he founded the Department of Traditional Music of the National School of Music of Vannes-Pontivy, which will see dozens of apprentice musicians, but also dozens of musicians seeking to improve themselves in the field of ethnomusicology, pedagogy and any other discipline related to traditional music. Founder of the Department of Traditional Music at the Brest Regional Conservatory (2000), coordinator of CEFEDEM Bretagne-Pays-de-Loire (2002) and then of the Pont Supérieur de Rennes (2011), he was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Communication to design and implement various specific training courses for the State Diploma of Traditional Music Teacher and the Certificate of Aptitude for the Functions of Traditional Music Teacher.
An ethnologist (Master's degree awarded by the University of Brest), he was Donatien Laurent's assistant from 2007 to 2020, and worked on documenting and putting the latter's collections online. Since 1986, in addition to his work as a musician, teacher and researcher, he has been a member of juries (CNFPT, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of National Education, etc.), hosted radio shows (France-Culture, France-Musique), and spoken at various conferences devoted to traditional music and its transmission.
