Andrés Rodrigues (Bual, 1991) is an artist, researcher, musician and
performer specializing in the anthropology of the body and the exploration of sound from a non-hegemonic analytical radicality.
He studies traditional modal music from Asturias and Galicia, focusing on the Eo-Navia area, which constitutes a transitional space between Galicia and Asturias. He also created with Miguel Rodriguez Monteavaro the ATEM sound archive (Arquivo de tradición dos ermaos Monteavaro).
As a musician, Andrés Rodrigues is part of several
projects:
- La Exclusión de Niño de Elche, a show based on
experimental, ambient and industrial music; - A música tradicional del Eo-Navia by Caldo and Os Rabizos, a project based on ATEM in which he reinterprets in a contemporary way the music collected in a vast compilation;
- Ultramonte by Pablo Und Destruktion, where he works the sonority of the bagpipe with analog synthesizers;
- A luz, Orión e a nova luz by Miguel R. Monteavaro, an audiovisual show of expanded poetry with drone;
- Incra, his own work of musical experimentation around the semiotics of the sound industry.
In addition, Andrés has participated, directed and collaborated in other projects in the Asturian, Galician and Breton spheres. As a researcher, he develops his work between the University of Uviéu and the French universities Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3, Sorbonne Université-Paris 4 and Cergy-Paris Université.
