Olivier Catteau
Clarinet, accordion player
Olivier Catteau began his music career by learning classical piano, guitar and harmony. He discovered traditional music and moved on to the diatonic accordion and clarinet.
In 2009, he perfected his knowledge of Bulgarian music by working for a year in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) with Petar Voinikov, a great name in Bulgarian clarinet. Back in France, he continued studying the clarinet and its various repertoires, notably that of the 13 keys from central Brittany. He perfected his accordion playing and chose a mixed system, Le Darwin, created by Marc Serafini. A complete musician, he now performs with Ormuz (Traditional music and songs from France and Quebec), La Bricole (Maritime songs from Boulonnais) and KBA#6 (electronic Breton music). He presents his compositions as part of the duo Peut être Jeanne. He holds a degree in musicology, studied Jazz at the CRR in Lille and is a graduate of "Musician of modal music of learned and popular tradition" from the Kreiz Breizh Akademi training course directed by Erik Marchand. He taught the accordion at the Cric Crac compagnie training center in Villeneuve d'Ascq, and today runs accordion and Balkan music courses.
